The much-needed heavy rainfall last week that continued over the weekend has meant that an estimated two million cubic metres of water flowed into dams with huge financial benefits of almost €2 million saved.
According to a Water Development Department (WDD) official, rainfall has significantly helped the agricultural sector as production of water through desalination is costly.
Rain continued on Mionday and will continue on Tuesday. According to the Meteorological service, on Monday temperatures reached 24°C inland and on the coast, and 13°C on the mountains.
On Tuesdat the weather will start off partly overcast with winds of three to four Beaufort and isolated showers and storms expected in the afternoon. Temperatures will reach 27°C inland, around 26°C on the south and east coasts, around 24°C on the west coast and 16°C in the mountains.
On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, the weather will be mostly warm and temperatures are expected to slightly increase.
