LARNACA – Two men accused of sexually assaulting two underage girls were ordered by the Larnaca District Court on Tuesday to answer charges before the Assizes on May 30.
The District Court will decide on Wednesday morning whether the accused - a 35-year-old man from Nicosia and a 57-year-old well known Larnaca businessman – will remain in custody until the trial date.
The pair was remanded in custody on May 1 on suspicion of sexually assaulting two girls aged 14 and 15.
An investigation was launched after the 15-year-old reported to police that she recently met the younger man at his flat in the capital having previously chatted with him on a social networking site. She claims that along with a 14-year-old girl she was held against her will, beaten and raped. She said both girls were then driven to a flat in Larnaca where they were subjected to a second assault which the 57-year-old also took part in.
