A vicious row between a married couple in the Paphos village of Geroskippou ended with the husband stabbed in the leg and his wife in a police cell, according to police.
Neighbours of the couple had called police in the early hours of this morning after the two were heard having a fierce argument at around 2.30am.
Investigators believe that at some point during the row, the woman – said to be a 36-year-old Romanian national - picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed her 31-year-old Syrian husband. The ordeal was heard by neighbours who told police that they also saw the man screaming for help and clutching his bloodied leg after staggering out of his home.
An ambulance soon arrived and he was taken to first aid at Paphos General Hospital where he was treated for his wound before being released soon afterwards.
An arrest warrant was issued against the wife and she is currently in police custody.
