Police say a woman who crashed her car whilst driving her two young children was found to be seven times over the legal alcohol limit.
According to Limassol traffic police, neither the driver – said to be a 37-year-old Russian national – nor her co-passenger and her two children were hurt. The crash occurred on the Limassol beach round at around 9.30pm on Monday night. Traffic police officers conducted a routine breathalyser test on the woman with the first result showing that she had 170mg of alcohol in her blood while the second test around ten minutes later showed 157mg. The legal alcohol limit in Cyprus is 22mg.
The woman was immediately placed under arrest while her two young children, said to be aged 11 and nine, were temporarily taken into care by friends with the consent of the Welfare Services.
