LARNACA - A 56-year-old man has been remanded for three days in custody in connection with a bomb scare that led to Tuesday’s temporary evacuation of all passengers and staff from Larnaca Airport.
Speaking during the hearing at Larnaca District Court on Wednesday the case investigator confirmed that the suspect, who works as a bus driver, was arrested on Tuesday evening after the phone number used for the bomb hoax was traced back to a phone registered in his name.
The suspect’s lawyer said there is no evidence to connect his client with the bomb hoax and noted that the sim card used to place the call has still not been found.
The bomb scare lasted for around an hour and a half and caused severe disturbance in both Larnaca and Paphos Airport.
