APOEL fans clashed with police on Wednesday night during celebrations of the team’s Cyprus Coca-Cola Cup triumph.
Various media reports suggest that between three and six supporters were arrested during scuffles that erupted outside the APOEL clubhouse, situated just opposite the Hilton Hotel in Nicosia. A police spokesperson stated that two police officers suffered injuries following an attack by supporters of APOEL while teargas was also fired to disburse the crowds.
Police also made four arrests before Wednesday evening’s Cyprus Cup final between APOEL and Ermis Aradippou after fans were found attempting to smuggle fireworks into the GSP Stadium.
APOEL won the game 2-0 to clinch a record 20th Cup title.
