A 40-year-old Cypriot man was yesterday remanded for six days in custody before the Limassol District Court on suspicion of raping a woman at gunpoint.
According to police spokesman Andreas Angelides, the 39-year-old Cypriot victim reported the sexual assault to Limassol CID on Tuesday evening.
She claimed that the suspect whom she is acquainted with entered her house, threatened her with a handgun and then raped her.
"A state pathologist has examined the victim and concluded that she was subjected to a violent sexual assault."
He added that efforts are underway to find the gun allegedly used in the assault.
