Turkish Cypriot channel Kanal Sim has begun broadcasting Greek language lessons.  The show, "I Learn Greek with Hasan Tuna" airs twice a week with a duration of 15 minutes. According to channel's manager Sami Özuslu the aim of the show is to contribute to a peace culture.  Its presenter, Hasan Tuna, is a Turkish Cypriot professor of Greek language and literature.
Hasan Tuna spoke to radio show "I Kypros Simera" of Super Sport fm and said lessons will take place every Tuesday and Friday at 6.30pm.  It will teach the alphabet, simple Greek phrases and grammar through examples from animations and Greek theatrical sketches.  The aim  is to encourage viewers to take up Greek lessons. Tuna said it is important that we learn each other's language in order to overcome misunderstandings.
Özuslu said that despite of whether there is a solution or not to the Cyprus problem, there is a need for the two communities that speak different languages to understand each other. Lessons can also be watched online.
