PAPHOS - A 64-year-old German passport holder was remanded for eight days in custody on Thursday in connection with what the authorities are calling Cyprus’ largest ecstasy bust.
According to Drug Squad (YKAN) Chief Stelios Sergides, the suspect was arrested at Paphos Airport during the early hours of Thursday on arrival from Brussels.
At 12.55am narcotics officers, acting on a tip off inspected the suspect’s luggage and uncovered 7,000 ecstasy pills branded ‘power on/off’.
Sergides confirmed the narcotics bust marks the single largest seizure of ecstasy on the island.
