LARNACA - Two people on Tuesday received prison sentences after being found guilty of attempting to smuggle cocaine into Cyprus in two separate cases.
The Larnaca Criminal Court sentenced Dutch national Kevin Johnson, 38, to 10 years in prison. He was found guilty of attempting to smuggle 1227 grams of cocaine in his body through Larnaca Airport on March 22, 2014.
Romanian national Elena Luminia Rislaru, 23, was sentenced to four years in jail over her attempt to smuggle 168 grams of cocaine in her body through Larnaca Airport on April, 14, 2014.
In handing down the sentence the judge said the court had taken into consideration the fact that Rislaru is currently 10 weeks pregnant.
