LARNACA – Michalis Michail, 54, wanted in connection with a fraud scam involving used cars being sold as new, was arrested late on Sunday evening.
The owner of Μichael Automotive Ltd, against whom an arrest warrant had been issued on May 20, was arrested at Larnaca Airport on Sunday at 21:25.
Police also issued a European arrest warrant last week, when it appeared the dealer was delaying returning to Cyprus.
A 63 year old was also arrested in connection with the same case which involves the sale of used cars as new over the period 2007 – 2009. The case is understood to involve 1669 Ford cars of various models.
The state is understood to be among those defrauded, having bought 55 FORD - RANGER cars as new, though they appear to have been second hand.
