 The sixth annual Troodos Sports & Fun Festival, organised by the Troodos Tourism Board, in cooperation with the Cyprus Tourism Organisation and BikinCyprus Events Management, will be taking place between June 7 and 15.
“The festival, which every year is enriched with more activities, is open to all- young and older people who love adventure and outdoor activities and who want to escape from everyday routine,” stated the festival organisers in a press release.
The programme for this year’s festival includes sports competitions and side activities. Events include a cross country run, road cycling and mountain bike activities and competitions, exhibitions of traditional and sport products, workshops on running and mountain biking, games for children, and other activities for the whole family.
The festival will be launched on Saturday June 7 with a road cycling event , titled ‘0-2000’. The event’s name represents the altitude that cyclists will have to climb, as the race starts from the Limassol seafront at Atlantica Miramare hotel at zero metres above sea level. The 68km route will gradually gain altitude, passing from Ypsonas, Kouris Dam, Lofou, Pera Pedi and Platres, and finishing at Olympus – the highest peak on the island.
The Enduro Mountainbike competition will take place on Sunday, June 8 with four different routes. The Running and MTB Marathon competitions will be taking place in the weekend of June 14, and will be open to all participants. Running and mountain biking races for children up to 12 years old will also be organised. Side events will include workshops on running and mountain biking.
