NICOSIA- Foreign Minister Erato Kozakou-Marcoullis and her Albanian counterpart Edmond Panariti have signed a Protocol of Cooperation between the two Ministries, providing for the intensification of consultations and cooperation in political, cultural and scientific matters, along with Nicosia providing expertise to Tirana in Albania’s European integration path.
The Protocol was signed after the two sides concluded talks at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in Nicosia. In statements, Marcoullis expressed Cyprus’ support to Albania’s EU perspective, noting that Albania had a friend in Cyprus and added that the two sides share a common objective, with regards to Tirana acquiring EU candidate status by the end of the Cyprus EU Presidency.
On his part, Panariti, who was on an official one-day visit to Cyprus, expressed Albania’s full support towards the vision of the Republic of Cyprus government for the unity of the island and the coexistence of Turkish Cypriots and Greek Cypriots, as the way to preserve stability in the country
