LIMASSOL -  Police on Saturday morning discovered some1.5 kilos of explosivesand a detonator near the holiday home of President Christofias in Kellaki, CyBC and the Cyprus News Agency have reported. They said the president, who had been due to go to his holiday residence on Saturday afternoon, has been asked by police to stay away until they complete their investigations. The explosives, military type TNT,  were found some 15 metres from the road leading to the president's home, at a distance of some 500 metres. The detonator was not activated but CyBC quoting police said that it could easily have been activated and detonated by remote control or with the use of a mobile telephone. Police spokesman Andreas Angelides said the explosives were found in a bag under a tree and appeared to be in excellent condition. Police were called to the scene after someone saw a car without registration plates in the area and someone get out of the front passenger's seat and leave a bag under a tree. Police have searched the area, but found nothing else, CyBC said.  Police are continuing their investigation.
