NICOSIA - President Christofias will fly to Beirut Wednesday evening for a one-day official visit to Lebanon, during which he will meet with Lebanese President Michel Sleiman, Prime Minister Najib Mikati and President of Parliament Nabih Berri.
The President will be accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs Erato Kozakou Markoullis, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism Neoclis Sylikiotis, Minister of Defence Demetris Eliades, and Director of the President’s Office Christos Christophides.
According to a press release, on Thursday President Christofias will have a meeting with Sleiman, followed by talks between the two countries’ delegations on international and regional issues, developments in the Arab world, focusing on Syria and the Middle East question, financial issues, and the prospects for development in the region in relation to the discovery of large deposits of hydrocarbons.
President Christofias will then hold separate meetings with Berri and Mikati, and will address a Cyprus-Lebanon business forum.
He will also meet with Patriarch of Cilicia Aram I and Patriarch of Antioch and All the East Mar Bechara Boutros al-Rahi.
The President will be returning to Cyprus on Friday morning.
