PAPHOS - Shacolas group of companies will operate a private airline with headquarters in the coastal town's airport, the group's head has announced.
Nicos Shacolas also said that the airline will be small, flexible and viable and mainly serve the interests of Paphos - especially the Polis Chrysochous area.
He was speaking in the presence of President Christofias who had laid the foundation stone for the group's "Cyprus Limni Resort" project over the weekend.
The President said that such tourist projects will stimulate the Cyprus economy, create new jobs and enhance economic activity.
"This particular development will attract high-end tourism, offering a very good holiday destination in the Mediterranean," he also said.
Christofias added that a significant boost in Cyprus' tourism came as a result of strategic planning by the government and the opening to new markets, namely Russia and Ukraine.
“Government actions and the success in tourism provided some breathing space to the Cyprus economy and averted the worst”, he said.
