NICOSIA – Police are investigating a video posted on the internet and attributed to the international hacking group Anonymous threatening to hack into the Interior Ministry computers during Sunday’s elections. Police chief Michalis Papageorgiou said that he had alerted the chief returning officer as well as the electronics crime squad. He added that police were trying to establish whether the video was genuine or just a sick joke. The Cyprus presidential elections are described as critical in the 70 second video, with the group saying “expect more”. Authorities are confident they can counter any hacking threat, the CyBC said. The chief returning officer said that the Ministry of Interior's systems were well protected and that results would be announced on time.
