NICOSIA – A 27 year old woman from Bulgaria was killed in a traffic accident in Nicosia early on Monday morning. Her 37 year old co-driver, also from Bulgaria, was slightly injured.
Police said the woman was killed when she lost control of the car she was driving in Aglantzia and hit an electricity pole. She was taken to Nicosia hospital where doctors certified her death.
At around 5.00 am, a Briton was critically injured and his co-driver seriously injured near Larnaca airport. Police said the 55 year old man, who was on holiday in Cyprus appeared to lose control of the vehicle which hit the cement wall of the roundabout. Both he and his passenger, a British woman aged 43, where thrown out of the car by the impact.
He was taken to Larnaca and then Nicosia hospital where he is reported to be in critical condition. His co-driver is in serious condition.
In a third road accident, also on Monday morning, a 19 year old Cypriot woman suffered serious injuries when the car she was driving collided with a truck on the Pera Chorio-Kotsiatis road. The driver of the second vehicle was unhurt.
