NICOSIA – The public service has different working hours as of Monday in line with an agreement reached with the island’s Troika of international lenders.
But public servants union PASIDY continued protests over the implementation of the new working hours. They argue that the government should have held a dialogue with them first.
Public servants now work from eight thirty in the three thirty in the afternoon or from nine in the morning till four thirty in the afternoon.
The new working hours will not be implemented at public hospitals and those concerned were officially informed last Friday.
PASIDY argues that the new work hours neither assist better the public nor save the state money.
