LARNACA – A 70 year old Cypriot permanent resident of Britia, Pantelis Adamides drowned while swiming in the sea near Xylotympou, the British Base police said on Saturday.
Adamides is married with three children and has a flat in Oroklini. He had been in Cyprus alone for the past month.
Bases police said that at around 16.30 on Friday, Adamides was spotted by other bathers, unconscious some two metres off the coast. He was taken to shore, given first aid but could not be revived.. A doctor who attended the scene confirmed his death. A port mortem conducted at the British Bases on Saturday found the cause of death to be asphyxia from drowning.
